Arena Cidd: Let’s Blow Up Some SSB

Arena Cidd: Let’s Blow Up Some SSB

Overview

In this section, we will discuss Challenger Tier Arena Team Compositions that revolve around Cidd and his high damage output kit. As the game changes constantly we will attempt to give you the most updated information to help improve your game both in PvP and PvE content.

Character builds and concepts for advanced PvP and PvE will help open your eyes to a new world of possibility. Dust off those old characters you thought were no good and get ready to dominate!

Cidd – “The Wild Dog Company mascot, a wild hound as fast as the wind” – is a 4* Earth Thief who is available through Covenant Summons. Don’t pass on Cidd just because he is not a Moonlight 5* such as Arbiter Vildred, or a “Meta Unit” such as Basar or Seaside Bellona that plague Arena. Paired with the correct team to synergize with his Kit, Cidd can easily wreak havoc on any team.

In Challenger and above, you will see a lot of Double Threat, Knight, Reviver team compositions.
IE: Lilias, Ruele/Maid Chloe, Charles/ML Ken, and Seaside Bellona.

Cidd’s Base Stats (Fully Awakened)

Attack: 1029 – Not a terrible base stat. His damage output is also affected by his Speed which makes up for this base stat. Cidd’s base Attack is the 4th highest amongst the 4* Thieves (Moonlight Inclusive). Like any other DPS, you want to get your Attack stat as high as possible, without disturbing your other stats such as Critical Damage, Critical Hit Chance, and Speed.

Speed: 126 – Cidd is one of the fastest units in the game. Only 3 other Units have higher base Speeds than Cidd (Kayron -129, Assassin Cidd – 128, Celeste – 128). Because his Attack stat is not as high as other Thieves, you primarily want to use a Speed set on Cidd. Be careful not to make Cidd too fast, or else the +/- Speed RNG may have him cut in front of your other units which could potentially disrupt your Team flow.

Critical Hit Chance: 23% – A nice +8% from his awakenings. You want to keep this stat at least 85% or as close to it. 100% would be nice, but not everybody has blessed sub-stat gears.

Skill Enhancements (What should I Mola?)

As Molagora is a very time-gated currency, it can be very difficult in deciding where to place them. I am always in a Molagora drought, so I have to be very careful when deciding which Skills I enhance. I want this review to maximize damage while minimizing resource usage.

I fully enhanced Cidd’s S3 (Hack) and S2 (Passive: Wind’s Resolve). Nuking a target with Cidd’s S3 will grant him an Extra Turn. This is fairly easy to do as having the Increased Speed Buff will give Cidd the Elemental Advantage. Having the ability to attack with the Elemental Advantage is amazing. Cidd will gain the +15% Critical Hit Chance and extra damage when having the Elemental Advantage. This will allow Cidd to utilize the damage from an enhanced Relentless Strike (S2) as well as a possible Defense Break that’s at an innate 100% proc chance.

Wind’s Resolve – When the caster is granted Increased Speed, Relentless Strike is enhanced to deal more damage and Decreases Defense of the enemy for 1 Turn.

Gear

I run Cidd on Speed and Crit Sets.

  • Critical Damage % Necklace
  • Attack % Ring
  • Attack % Boot

I know, I know.. I said to have 85% Critical Hit Chance, but I have not been blessed with amazing sub-stat rolls- especially that Critical Hit Damage Neck.. *sigh*. Anyways, I also run the Artifact Midnight Bloom to push Cidd’s Critical Hit Chance % into the 90s.

Cidd’s damage does scale a bit with his Speed, but I find that using the 65% Attack boot dealt more damage than a 40 Speed Boot. Essentially, I would want more Critical Hit Damage, but these stats still work very well. Cidd can still easily nuke high threat targets such as Martial Artist Ken, Charles, etc.

Artifact

I use a very budget friendly DPS artifact- Exorcist’s Tonfa which increases damage dealt by 16% when the enemy’s health is over 50%.

Other Artifacts (Maxed LV) you could use on Cidd are:

Portrait of the Saviors – A better Exorcist’s Tonfa. Increases damage dealt by 20%. In fact, you SHOULD use this Artifact if you have it. Sadly I started playing after the Guilty Gear Collaboration event 🙁

Elyha’s Knife – Penetrate’s Defense by 20% when attacking an enemy not at max Health.
With the release of Faithless Lidica, this can work well with Cidd as Faithless Lidica can dispel a Buff, soften up the target, and CR Push your entire team up to 20%.

If you are using a CR opener such as Roozid or Judith, I’d opt for Portrait or Tonfas instead of Elyha’s Knife to maximize damage output on the first S3.

Wind Rider – Casts stealth and increases Attack by 60% for 1 turn when the enemy is defeated.
Using Wind Rider means Cidd should Nuke the squishier targets first, then use the S2 on to the tankier threat such as Charles or Martial Artist Kens. The damage from his S2 with the Wind Rider attack increase could potentially Nuke tankier threats, but I personally prefer to not gamble with that route.

Team Compositions

Budget Friendly Team: Hurado, Roozid, Cidd, Lots.

Hurado is a 3* Dark Mage available through Moonlight Summons and Covenant Summons. He is a bit harder to obtain due to him being a Dark Unit, but easier to obtain than an Auxiliary Lots which grants him this slot in this team. Hurado is also here so he can bring Tagahel’s Ancient Bookto allow Cidd to Soul Burn his S3.

Roozid a 3* Earth Thief available through Covenant Summons. He is also a Speed Imprint, which helps Hurado go first and adds a bit more to Cidd’s damage output.

Lots is a 4* Earth Soul Weaver available through Covenant Summons. I put him here to do the same CR Push job like Auxiliary Lots, and is much easier to obtain than his ML counterpart. Though not granting the Increased Attack buff is unfortunate..

Turn Order:

  • Hurado S3
  • Roozid S3
  • Cidd S3 (Nukes 1 target and Grants an extra turn)
  • Cidd S1 (Attack the 2nd threat)
  • Lots S2 into Cidd
  • Cidd S1 (This should kill the 2nd threat)

Not As Budget Friendly Team: Faithless Lidica, Yuna, Cidd, A. Lots

Faithless Lidica is a 5* Light Ranger available through Moonlight Summons, Covenant Summons, and *currently* Mystic Summons. Her S2 can dispel a buff such as Fallen Cecilia’s Barrier Buff, CR Push your team, and soften up targets.

Added benefit: her S3 can lock down those pesky Maid Chloe S3s, or Lilias S3s. I would run Sashe Ithanes on ML Lidicato further boost your team’s CR, but sadly I do not have Sashe Ithanes, so I use Otherworldly Machinery to maximize the damage output on her S2.

Yuna is a 5* Ice Ranger available through Hero Connections. Yuna’s S2 grants Increased Speed and Increased Attack Buffs for the entire team which further increases Cidd’s damage output.

I run Yuna with Midnight Bloom to help increase Cidd’s Critical Hit Chance % Auxiliary Lots is a 4* Dark Mage available through Moonlight Summons. Auxiliary Lots is great because he gives a 100% CR Boost with an Increased Attack Buff and can hold Tagahel’s Ancient Book.

Turn Order:

  • Faithless Lidica S2
  • Faithless Lidica S3 (May be Soul Burned depending on the situation)
  • Yuna S2
  • Cidd S3 (Nukes 1 target and Grants an extra turn)
  • Cidd S1 (Attack the 2nd threat – Usually Seaside Bellonas)
  • A. Lots S2 into Cidd
  • Cidd S1 (This should kill the 2nd threat)

If the enemy unit in front is low enough, killing off Seaside Bellona could give you a 2 for 1 kill deal! How nice!

Here are a few clips in Challenger III and Challenger II for your viewing pleasure. Cheers!
